Generally, infants (under 2 years) travel sitting on your lap, but it is possible to book a separate seat at a reduced fare.

Your infant can travel at a discount of 90%. |
Your child can travel at a discount of 33%. |
Rules for infants under 2 years
- The Infant Fare is available for infants under 2 years, who travel on your lap. If you wish to book a separate seat, you need to purchase a discount Child Fare (if available) and bring a car-type child seat with you, conforming with the international safety standards (read more here). To manage this process, please contact our Call Center or your travel agent accordingly.
- If the infant turns 2 on the day of travel, a separate seat must be purchased at a Child Fare for the whole journey. In this case, bringing your own car-type child seat is optional.
- Infants cannot travel unaccompanied.
Rules for children aged 2 to 12
- The Child Fare is applicable for children between the ages of 2 and 12.
- If the child turns 12 on the day of travel, a regular fare must be purchased for the whole journey.
Both Infant and Child Fares apply only on flights operated by AEGEAN and Olympic Air and are not included in promotions and special offers, unless otherwise stated. Different taxes and fees may apply based on the destination.

Before reservation, please check the regulations of the countries of departure and arrival and ensure that you are in possession of all required travel documents for young passengers.
As a general rule, on international flights, children must possess their own passport or ID card (within the EU or Schengen area). On domestic flights, they can travel with a passport, ID card (when aged older than 12 years) or health booklet or birth certificate. See below required documents (the list is not comprehensive as it varies upon destination):
- ID card
- Passport
- Visa
- Residence Permit
Notes:
- Before travelling make sure you are in possession of all the required valid travel documents.
- In the event that a child is traveling with a parent, it is recommended to present a Declaration (validated by a Public Authority such as the Citizen Service Center (KEP), or by gov.gr) stating the consent of the other parent for the trip. If a person other than a parent is accompanying the child it is recommended to present a Declaration (validated by a Public Authority such as Citizen Service Center (KEP), or by gov.gr) signed either by one parent or by both parents ( or the responsible exerciser or exercisers of parental care) which will expressly certify the relationship of the companion with the child and declare consent for the trip. For international flights, the Declaration (or some other document which should be in English) may be mandatory, for this reason we recommend that you contact the competent authorities of your country of departure and arrival, as the travel documents are the responsibility of the passenger.
- If you need further information and assistance, please contact one of our representatives.
We know that every moment of the journey spent with your family is precious, this is why we endeavour to seat families together on board, irrespective of the fare category. During web or online check-in and based on availability, adjacent seats will be allocated.
Travelling by plane is safe for a healthy baby or young child, but if you are uncertain, we urge you to consult with your pediatrician. You might want to consider changing your flight arrangements if any of the following occurs:
- Acute headache
- Illness with a high temperature
- Recovery after surgery
- Infectious diseases, such as measles, influenza, chickenpox, etc.
Guidelines for infants
An infant is a child under 2 years of age until the day of travel. The travel rules for infants are the following:
- Infants are not allowed to travel during the first 7 days of their life, apart from medical need.
- 1 infant per accompanying person over the age of 16 is allowed.
- The maximum number of infants allowed on each flight might vary based on the oxygen masks and infant belts available on board the aircraft.
Guidelines for children
Children up to 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult, who must either be a parent/guardian, or someone designated by the parent/guardian, aged at least 16 years old, who will take responsibility for the child throughout the journey. Additionally, it is necessary for the child to travel with the adult on the same flight and in the same class of service, unless the unaccompanied minor service has been activated.
If your child needs to travel unaccompanied by a parent or guardian, we take care of their safe travel. Read more here.
